WHERE DID IT START FOR YOU?
I used to think that you had to have years of experience or go to fashion school to make clothes. Not until the rise of DIY clothing and small businesses started to boom, AND IN 2019 I DECIDED TO GIVE IT A SERIOUS GO.
I chose my specific style because it is what I personally would wear. It is what I like to see, I simply cannot create something for the sake of it. My inspirations are me, Basquiat, my Grandma and music. I say me because it took 17 years to find self-love, so I want to share it with everybody in hopes to help someone struggling with this to look within and see that they themselves, can be art too.
WHAT CHALLENGES HAVE YOU FACED IN THE INDUSTRY?
I am still a small, one man business However, I have realised how hard it can be to get your name out there, past your friends and closE(ish)Instagram followers.
At times I see the same faces or brands booking deals with bigger brands, so it can be a little discouraging at times, but that’s not stopping me from doing my work. comparison kills.
WHAT DOES ‘NOBODY LIKES US EXCEPT US’ MEAN TO YOU?
IT literally means family to me, because they helped me start up my first shop, which connected me to other designers, who I call my friends now. I like how they help upcoming designers and artists by truly supporting and displaying their work OUT THERE, IT’S encouraging.
WHAT PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING ON AND WHATS UP NEXT FOR YOU?
I don’t like telling my business way before time, but I will let you in on something,I am making SOME SWEATERS AND STARTED MAKING RUGS.
What is next for me is to keep doing, keep creating, keep inspiring, keep collaborating, keep supporting, uplifting my peers, learning and growing.
