Continuing the designer interview series, thestreetsarecold had the chance to interview the creative behind DIght + Lark.
where did it start for you?
Before it became a clothing brand, it was simply a set of my own hand drawn pieces. I used art as a channel to express emotions that I found challenging to articulate. DIGHT + LARK became a visual way of representing a life journey, the dark and the light, the ups and the downs, the courage and the fear which we all experience.
What challenges have you faced in the industry?
The biggest challenge for me was to find ways in which the brand can grow in a creative and realistic way, despite the obvious limited financial resources that most small brands haVe access to.
What does ‘nobody likes us except us’ mean to you?
It doesn’t mean anything to me because I believe that there are always people resonating with our message and what the brand represents. The challenge is finding those resonators, even if it’s a really select few.
What have you been working on and what’s next up for you?
So many amazing opportunities have presented themselves that I could never have predicted. One of those being DIGHT + LARK featuring in London Fashion Week 2020 with the help of THESTREETSARECOLD. DIGHT + LARK continues to be a work in progress and I stay open to whatever reveals itself over time, What I do know is that it will be exactly what it’s meant to be.
