Thestreetsarecold sat down with the creatives behind GBDT, D & K, discussing the IDEOLOGY behind the brand, challenges they have faced and whats next.
GBDT, how did it start?
so back in 2016, we just started making hats and releasing them. we had good reception and people slowly started gravitating towards it, at that point we just thought, it might be a thing
what challenges have you faced in the industry?
Manufacturing. considering everything that’s the biggest hurdle that we have to overcome, year in year out. sometimes the product don’t come correct, or there’s delays in production and delivery, and it’s things like these that mess up the consistency. sometimes we’d like to release 2 or 3 full collections in the year but we can only manage around 1.5 right now. but we’re still here, we a’int moving
What does ‘nobody likes us except us’ mean to you?
to love yourself before someone can love you. i love the brand, i believe in it, and we’re lucky BECAUSE everyone around us supports it aswell. were not gonna follow the typical fashion aesthetic just BECAUSE the fashion community says so. i mean if they’re not gonna let us in, we’ll just make our own door and let ourselves in.
What projects are you working on and whats next for you?
We’re always working on something, it’s always about working towards the next thing. we’ve got a few collaborations on the way with artists, Mist and tion Wayne, and we’re super excited about the upcoming collection, GABOS - GAME AIN’T BASED ON SYMPATHY
