With the creative juices flowing all 2020, the year has given birth to some truly inspirational designers, from reworked croc sandals to Astro-Esque puffers, here are our favourites:

  1. DING YUN ZHANG

The 25-year-old graduate from CSM has created a near new silhouette featuring oversized samurai helmets, puffers with an unmatched fit, all from a truly astronomical colour palette. The designer previously did work for Kanye West’s YEEZY and the inspiration is clear to see, debuting the newest foam runners at London Fashion Week. the designer has received nothing but applause.

2. NICOLE MCLAUGHLIN

You’ve probably seen these on instagram, nows the time to see the individual behind it. What ultimately started as a Hobby, has now transformed into a full time job for Nicole McLaughlin. Focusing on sustainability and ethical production NIcole started by upcycling day to day house hold items such as old volleyballs and running trainers and remodeling them into wearable items, giving them a whole new life and purpose. Since then Nicole has teamed up with NIKE to create new sustainable workshops, released a successful gorp-core croc sandal and is developing a non-profit company to aid young designers in sustainable fashion.

3. WALES BONNER

Born in south london to a British Mother and a Jamaican Father, Grace Wales Bonner embodies multinationalism in all her designs. Upon Graduation, the Wales Bonner brand has set out to address the issues of race, politics and sexuality throughout their strong, balanced projects. Wales Bonner’s most recent work was the successful collaboration with ADIDAS, a european and afro-atlantic take on traditional LEISUREWEAR, featuring unique tailoring and CAREFULLY selected colours.

We’re excited to see what these designers and many others will bring to 2021.
